Two weeks ago the first Leadership Academy in Zambia was launched. 20 young leaders from across Lusaka (the capital city) have begun a one year journey of training in missional leadership.
Over the next 12 months they will receive further training workshops, monthly coaching conversations and a series of evening community gatherings. A group of 24 senior leaders were also trained to act as coaches to the younger group.
This is the first Academy to take place in sub-Saharan Africa. We’re very excited to see the fruits of this work in the lives and leadership of those who attended. All of them have said this leadership training will bring change in their ministry. Many commented that the sessions on Vision and on Planning especially will cause them to work more effectively when initiating new Kingdom projects.
“It was empowering and reviving. This articulates spiritual leadership teachings with simplicity and clarity.” Annie Sichalwe (pastor)
Annie and her husband Michael are pastors in the town of 22 Mile, just outside Lusaka. They are already doing incredible work, having set up a school for local children, and also worked for greater church unity in their region. We pray that this Academy training will support them, and others like them, in fulfilling God’s vision for their lives.
Other comments from the group include:
“It has made me to start practicing leadership as one like Jesus in the Bible.” Christopher Sakala
“Enlightening. It is an Academy based on tried out models coupled with leadership view from the Bible.” Sarah Mukelabai
“From this workshop my leadership will change. People will notice a difference.” Rev David Tembo
