Alvin Tan is one of the newest partners of the One Rock team and we are delighted he said yes to be a part of the future ministry. Alvin brings with him depth of spiritual discernment, people skills, team building ability and tonnes of creativity. He has been with One Rock for a few years now and served previously as a mentor.
We’re so thankful to team members in Malaysia who have been with us for a long time; we would not have been able to do what we do there without their servant-hearted attitude and commitment. The time has come to restructure the team for a new season ahead of us in Malaysia and the region. Thank you to those who have worked hard in running Institutes and helping deliver workshops and retreats over recent years.
We continue to be very blessed by the mentors we have in Malaysia and Singapore; one of them called Lu demonstrated his commitment to his mentee, and took a bus from Singapore all the way to KL to spend a day with him and get to know his family.
With leadership transitions at our partner church DUMC in Kuala Lumpur, Joanna had a chance to meet up with the newly appointed senior pastor to discuss the future of our collaboration. One Rock has been invited to play a bigger role in the church going forwards. And we have also built a closer relationship with a key church in Singapore and look forward to more opportunities opening there too.
We have conducted the mid-point training for our One Rock Institute in Malaysia and are starting to recruit for the next group in Sep 2025. This year we will be putting more emphasis on intergenerational collaboration as well as one on one mentoring. It was wonderful to get a lot of interest from the Chinese speaking congregation, and conversations are taking place on how to open up the One Rock Institute to other Chinese speaking churches in Malaysia.
Please pray for the members from Malaysia, Mongolia and Singapore on our current Institute cohort. And pray for the new team and the recruitment process for our next phase starting in Sept 2025.
