This year we’ve put together six short devotionals as we countdown to Christmas, based on the gifts given to the infant Jesus. Below is the first one, and you’ll be able to read the others on our social media channels.

At this time of year we buy gifts for our family and friends, but since it’s Jesus’ birthday why not also celebrate by giving a gift to Him? He is the Greatest Gift any of us can receive.

“Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11)

In this first Advent devotional, we remember the gift of gold. The first of all gifts and the one most costly. The gold points to Jesus’ identity as the future King of all Kings.
 
Gold reminds us that true giving involves costly sacrifice. The Magi travelled far, leaving behind comfort and security, to present their most valuable possession. It was an act of worship.

This week we have a team travelling to Rwanda. We will meet with several partners, deliver training workshops on High Performance Teams for our Institute cohort of 30 Rwandan leaders, and we’ll also deliver workshops on leadership for Africa New Life Church, and on coaching for IFES Rwanda.
